Default Insurance

For some of those that don't know, its been quite sometime since I have been able to ride. I have Progressive with my cars, but I am wondering if its possible to save more with another company. Any suggestions from those with cars and bikes on the same policy, whats cheapest?

I have my car, my husband's car and both are bike's with State Farm. Honestly, I'm not sure if that's the cheapest way to go but we have had State Farm for years because they give us excellent customer service. So, I would keep that in mind as well. Sometimes the cheapest insurance has the worst service.

I think that as long as you try and keep everything with the same company you will do well. Most places give discounts for having several things together.

If you can get a quote cheaper elsewhere-take it to your company. They are likely to match it-you see quotes are calculated differently now than they were, now taking into account such things as credit score.

Hey starter,
I thought of one other thing that may help you save some money on your insurance. Actually, someone here was telling me that if you take the Motorcycle Safety Course your company may give you a discount.
Granted I haven't looked into it enough yet to tell you the specifics, but you may want to check into that.

I am thinking about the MSC now since its been many moons as the last time I was trained in any type to ride, I figure some stuff may have changed. Right now we have two cars under Progressive and I am going to check with them next week since thats when we do our 6 month thing with them. A local place here in SC but I cant think of the name it has the cheapy insurance for cars but they are evil when it comes to customer service. When I remeber the name I will have to post it, I think they are in more places than just SC.

Default Multiple vehicles with same insurance

That's the best way I've found to save yet as it costs me very little to insure my bike along with the car. I also have my homeowner's through the same company (State Farm) so I think that helps, too. I have to agree with a previous poster about the cheapest not alway being the best, though. Although State Farm is one of the lowest plans I could find, it is not one of the three lowest. I chose to continue with State Farm because I have an awesome agent and the company has always been good to me whenever I've had any issues at all.

I agree that cheapest is not necessarily the best because if nothing else you can always drop coverage to lower your price. But that is not necessarily what you want to do, nor is it a good thing if it leaves you more out of pocket after an accident.

Use some common sense and shop around-Geico has just recently started pushing the fact that they offer motorcycle insurance, but if they wouldn't hold all of your policies, then it still might not be able good for you.

You may want to try Allstate, as well. I know for new insurerers they are running an ad about saving $500 a year (or something like that) if you don't get into any accidents. I'm not sure if that would apply to your bike but it would be worth checking into.

We use Progressive for all our vehicles (two bikes, two cars, two drivers). We did use Geico for the bikes at one time but they were less than friendly the first time we had an accident (not our fault) so we switched the bikes to Progressive even though at the time it cost more. Since we did that five years ago we now pay less than we did with Geico. We do also have my mother-in-law on our policy who is a MSC instructor and instructor's instructor so that may factor into our policy price these days (we added her two years ago) but I'm not sure.

I have my house and all 3 cars with Allstate, so went there when I bought my bike, and they were crazy. They wanted a month for 1 bike what ai pay Dairyland for 2 for a full year. I have been old by most riders around me that the larger companies are not bike friendly.
