For me, like Ally, it is a matter of safety not choice or comfort. I would have to see a lot to convince me that jeans can hold up as well as leathers do protection wise. I would rather be too hot than lose all the skin on my leg or whatever.
When it comes to acceptability, I wasn't referring to when riding. I meant that generally where I grew up and started riding, if an establishment was such that leathers were not ok, then jeans were not either. Jeans (in the UK where I grew up) are often banned from better establishments. So I got used to just dealing with leathers, and removing them before going where ever I was. Leathers are the law in the UK, unlike here where you can choose to take risks.
Now that I am in PA I find a lot of things perplexing. |
